Capital improves competitiveness ranking
VGP – Ha Noi climbed up 18 notches from 51st to 33rd place in the rankings. The information was released on March 20 at a ceremony to announce Viet Nam’s 2013 PCI list.

Central Da Nang City was crowned number one locality in the latest 2013 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) rankings.
Central Thua Thien Hue Province and southern Kien Giang Province came in as the second and third with 65.56 points and 63.55 points. The northern province of Quang Ninh made its first time to rank fourth with 63.51 points.
Ha Noi climbed up 18 notches from 51st to 33rd place in the rankings. Ho Chi Minh City leapt up three steps to make it into the 2013 PCI’s top ten.
Southern Dong Thap Province, topping in 2012 PCI list, dropped five notches, ranking fifth with 63.35 points.
Northern mountainous provinces of Cao Bang, Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang were listed among those with the lowest PCI.
The majority of provinces and cities increased the PCI point in the phase from 2006-2013, said Chairman of Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vu Tien Loc.
The 2013 PCI rankings is the voice of 8,093 businesses in 63 provinces and cities nationwide. It reflected opinions of 1,609 foreign-invested enterprises operating in Viet Nam.
