The Ha Noi Department of Tourism is working with agencies, units, and businesses to implement a wide range of measures to boost tourism development during the off-peak season from June to September.
The capital city is one of the major tourism centers in the country, offering a wide range of products from cultural tourism, resort tourism, and craft village tourism. It also boasts a large number of accommodation facilities, including many 4- and 5-star hotels.
According to the municipal Department of Tourism, Ha Noi is home to 3,760 accommodation facilities with 71,246 rooms.
The number of rated hotels and apartments accounts for 16 percent of the total, with 607 hotels and apartment complexes totaling 26,641 rooms rated from 1 to 5 stars. This demonstrates that Ha Noi has significant potential to attract more overnight visitors and increase tourism revenue.
So far this year, Ha Noi has welcomed 3.43 million international visitors and 13.01 million domestic tourists, up 42.5 percent and 5.8 percent year-on-year.
However, during the hot season, the number of visitors to the city typically experiences slower growth, especially for those staying overnight.
To attract more tourists this summer, the municipal authority has taken a series of solutions, including introducing new tourism products, as well as offering promotions and discounts from accommodation facilities.
Many luxury accommodation facilities on the outskirts of Ha Noi also have offered summer promotion programs, resulting in a significant increase in visitor numbers.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Nguyen Hong Minh suggested accommodation facilities need to develop specific packages of products to attract domestic tourists to Ha Noi in the off-peak season.
Tourism experts suggest that apart from discount policies and promotional activities by hotels, Ha Noi needs to offer more experiential tourism products to encourage longer stays.
Ha Noi welcomed nearly 3.5 million tourists in the January-July period, a 33.2 percent increase compared to the figure in the same period last year.
Of the total, 2.43 million are foreign visitors, up 43.4 percent from the same period of 2023.
In the remaining months of the year, the city's tourism sector will continue to promote destinations and invest in famous and traditional tourist sites.
It will also complete procedures and upgrade infrastructure to announce many new, diverse and attractive tourist sites. It also aims to promote tourism in craft villages, sightseeing, and shopping for high-quality products./.
