Customs sector strives for higher budget collection

VGP – The Ha Noi Customs Department convened a video-teleconference to review operation in 2016 and set goals for 2017.

The Department reported encouraging achievements in budget collection, modernization, anti-smuggling, and prevention of trade frauds.

In 2016, the Department processed nearly 953,000 import and export registration papers, up 19% against 2015. Total trade turnover hit US$ 26 billion, of which import was worth US$ 17 billion and export reached US$ 9 billion, up 1.8% against the same period last year. State budget collection valued VND 20 trillion, up by 2% of present goal and 7% of the figure recorded  last year.

The Department also gained achievements in the fight against trade frauds, smuggling of wild animals, and deployment of ASEAN single window mechanism at Noi Bai International Airport.

Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai praised the achievements of the Department. The Deputy Minister tasked the Department to strive for higher budget collection of VND 21.5 trillion in 2017; speed up the administrative reform in favor of citizens and enterprises; combat smuggling and trade frauds./.
