Under the contract signed on October 6, the first 83 trainsets will be manufactured by Alstom at its Valenciennes facility in France. The group will also transfer technology and supply key components for Vingroup to assemble the remaining 117 trainsets in Viet Nam.

All Metropolis trainsets provided by the French group for Ha Noi's metro lines are next-generation five-car trains. The trains feature fully automated, driverless operation at GoA4—the highest level of automation.

Headquartered in France and founded in 1928, Alstom operates across rolling stock manufacturing, metro systems, locomotives, signaling systems, and rail operation solutions.

The group previously supplied the signaling system for the Ha Noi–Vinh line, Ninh Binh Station, and 10 trainsets for Metro Line 3 (Nhon–Ha Noi Station).

Vingroup is participating in the Ha Noi metro project as the general contractor through its subsidiary, Vinhomes. The five Hanoi metro lines span a total length of 303.5 kilometers.

Additionally, VinSpeed—another subsidiary of Vingroup—is currently the investor for Viet Nam's first two high-speed rail projects: the 54 km Ben Thanh–Can Gio line in Ho Chi Minh City and the 120 km Ha Noi–Quang Ninh line.

To support these two projects, VinSpeed signed a contract worth up to €1 billion (approximately US$1.15 billion) with Siemens Mobility.

Under the agreement, the German manufacturer will supply 10 Velaro Novo trainsets alongside signaling, telecommunications, and electrification systems for VinSpeed's two rail lines./.
