The Chairman asks for good preparations for potential natural disasters as unpredictable weather continues to impact the capital

The directive comes in the wake of recent widespread flooding in urban areas and districts such as Chuong My, Quoc Oai and Thach That, caused by the second storm of the season, resulting in fatalities, property damage, and infrastructure destruction.

With the La Niña phenomenon expected to affect Viet Nam from August, there is an increased risk of severe storms, floods, and landslides.

Chairman Tran tasked all levels of authority to swiftly implement disaster response and recovery plans, concentrating on vulnerable areas and ensuring that resources and personnel are ready.

Local authorities are urged to identify high-risk zones, particularly near rivers and low-lying areas, and prepare evacuation plans to safeguard lives and property.

They are also instructed to ensure that disaster preparedness and relief efforts are thoroughly monitored and that budget allocations are in place for rapid response and recovery.

Key departments, including agriculture, industry, transport, and construction, have been directed to maintain 24/7 monitoring, ensure stable electricity and water supplies, secure infrastructure, and support the swift restoration of services after any disaster.

The Ha Noi Capital Command and Police are also mobilized to coordinate search and rescue operations and disaster recovery./.
