Capital plans to revitalize tourism activities

Unique and attractive products are being developed and many stimulus programs will be launched to ensure safety for tourists and those working in the industry.

Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Tourism said that businesses and tourists will have to actively comply with safe tourism standards and products.

Tran said that the city is finalizing scenarios of economic activity in line with each pandemic situation. Tourism companies should closely follow these scenarios, he added.

The city welcomed 2.9 million visitors, all from localities inside the country, in the first nine months of 2021, a fall of 57.5 percent year on year, according to the city’s Department of Tourism.

The department reported that total revenue of the sector also dropped 66.2 percent over the same period last year to VND 8.17 trillion (US$ 356.1 million).

In the coming time, the department will focus on strengthening COVID-19 prevention and control among businesses, organizations and individuals engaging in tourism activities in the city, while increasing the application of information technology in tourism management.

Alongside, the department will finalize and submit to the municipal People’s Committee a plan to organize a travel gift festival, and a plan on agricultural tourism development in line with new-style rural area building in the 2021-2025 period.

In 2021, the city’s tourism sector has set an overall target of catering to between 13.16 and 19.4 million tourists, including 10.96-15.34 million domestic visitors./.
