City releases planning of solid waste treatment until 2030, vision to 2050
VGP - Ha Noi Department of Construction has announced Planning for solid waste treatment until 2030, vision to 2050 on August 20.

According to Prime Minister Decision, the planning aims at strengthening capacity of reuse, recycling waste to reduce solid waste and meet city’s demands of collecting, especially toxic waste, to ensure that they will not be able to pollute environment.
The collection of domestic solid waste is expected to be 85% to 100% in 2020 and 90% to 100% in 2030 in urban area, and 70% to 80% in 2020 and 80% to 95% in rural area. For construction waste, the rate in 2020 is expected to be 80% to 100% in urban and 60% to 90% in rural areas.
The city also targets to collect 100% medical waste, accounting for 8,075 tons per year.
Ha Noi will have 17 solid waste treatment complexes, including eight upgraded complexes and nine new ones. The city will be divided into three zones for solid waste treatment; each zone has five or six facilities.
Total capital for the planning is estimated at VND11,000 billion, of which VND3,500 billion for construction until 2020.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Director of Department of Construction Hoang Nam Son confirmed that the planning will contribute to city’s comprehensive infrastructure and sustainable development. It also creates legal basis for construction and investment in environmental infrastructure and facilities, preventing violations and managing effectively solid waste treatment complexes in the area. - HNP
