City reviews industry and trade in the last nine months

Over the past nine months, value of industry and construction has increased 8% compared to the same period last year, while value added contribution of industry to Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increased gradually.
 
Index Of Industrial Production (IIP) has reached a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, particularly mining industry by 237.4%, manufacturing and processing industry 3.7%, production and distribution of power and fuel gas 3.2%, and water supply, sewage treatment and garbage collection 1.4%. As estimated, value added of industry in 2014 would go up by 8.1% to 8.9%, and IPP up by 4.5% compared to 2013.

To promote industry production in the last three months of 2014, the Department will continue assisting enterprises, especially reasonable interest rate for firms having key industry and supporting industry products. Further efforts will be made to encourage supporting industries, strengthen connections and international cooperation in business, along with promoting small and handicraft industries.

In terms of trade, over the past nine months, value of service industry has reached a year-on-year increase of 8.4% and contributed 4.1% to the city’s GRPD growth of 7.9%. As estimated, total retail sales in 2014 would go up by 13% compared to 2013, and value added of service industry up by 9.4%.

As part of activities to promote service trade in the next months, the Department will develop infrastructure and trade, continue helping enterprises promote business and production, along with connecting trade and tourism and proactively implementing programs for trade service promotion in the area. Special attention also will  be paid to controlling market, curbing inflation and ensuring social welfares.

Speaking at the working session, Municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan appreciated achievements of the Department of Industry and Trade, and asked for further efforts to help enterprises overcome difficulties, especially trading and production firms.
 
He also emphasized on promoting traditional and key industry products, and assigned the Department in cooperation with Authority of Planning and Investment to issue regulations on infrastructure without wastewater treatment plant in industrial clusters.
