VGP - Foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into Ha Noi in the first seven months of 2026 reflected a strong shift in the quality of investment capital toward high technology and innovation, according to a report by the Ha Noi People’s Committee.

During January-July, the capital city attracted a total of US$3.388 billion in FDI. Although this figure was down slightly by 9.7 percent year on year, the notable point is that the city had already achieved 75.3 percent of its full-year 2026 target after just over half the year.

In July alone, foreign capital inflows into the capital reached US$133.2 million. The city licensed 51 new projects with total registered capital of US$110.7 million while 19 projects increased their investment capital.

The most prominent highlight during this period was the positive shift in the sectoral composition of FDI. Foreign investment is no longer concentrated in labor-intensive or land-intensive sectors but has moved strongly toward industries with high intellectual and technological content.

Specifically, professional, scientific, and technological activities led by a wide margin, attracting approximately US$2.233 billion, accounting for more than 65 percent of Ha Noi's total FDI.

It was followed by key sectors including information and communications (US$298.7 million); real estate business (US$295.4 million); and water supply and waste treatment (US$220.2 million).

This structure is fully aligned with the city's strategy of attracting high-quality FDI, with priority given to digital services, R&D, and innovation projects. The rising share of high-tech investment is expected not only to increase the value added of the capital's economy but also to contribute directly to the goal of achieving double-digit GRDP growth in the final months of 2026.

Looking back at 2025, Ha Noi successfully attracted US$4.29 billion in FDI, maintaining its position among the leading localities nationwide in terms of FDI attraction./.
