The railway will span approximately 120km, featuring a double-track, standard-gauge (1,435mm), electrified system designed for speeds of up to 350km/h

The event will be held in Tuan Chau and Viet Hung wards, marking the start of a key inter-regional transport project expected to boost socio-economic development across northern Vietnam.

Authorities in Quang Ninh Province have called for the ceremony to be organized in a solemn, safe, efficient and cost-effective manner, ensuring close coordination between the project investor – Vinspeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development JSC – and relevant agencies and localities.

The railway will span approximately 120km, featuring a double-track, standard-gauge (1,435mm), electrified system designed for speeds of up to 350km/h. The route will pass through Hanoi, Bac Ninh Province, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh Province, beginning at Co Loa Station in Hanoi and terminating near Tuan Chau public park.

Five stations are planned along the route—Co Loa, Gia Binh, Ninh Xa, Yen Tu, and Ha Long Xanh—along with a depot at Ha Long Xanh to support operations, maintenance, and train storage. The section running through Quang Ninh Province will extend about 39.3km, from the Hai Phong boundary to the terminal station and depot.

The project will be developed under a public–private partnership (PPP) model, with a total estimated investment of VND147.37 trillion (approximately US$5.8 billion), excluding around VND10.27 trillion for land clearance funded by the State. It is slated for completion and operation by 2028.

Beyond enhancing transport connectivity, the railway is expected to support the province's 2026 development agenda, which focuses on strengthening regional linkages, promoting sustainable growth, and building a modern, integrated infrastructure system. It also reflects the strong commitment of the Party and State to creating new growth momentum, attracting investment, and advancing international integration./.
