Ha Noi attempts to reduce poverty rate
VGP - Despite the economic downturn, Ha Noi has reached the goal of reducing the rate of poor households through effective programs, policies and solutions in recent years.

According to statistics, over the past three years, the city has reduced 95,449 poor households that makes the rate dropped to 2.6% in late 2013 from 3.6% in early 2013.
Up to January 2014, 45,732 households were classified poor, and 43,718 households were near poor.
At the moment, the capital city has nearly 8,000 poor households with elderly, sick people or people suffering from dangerous diseases receiving allowance from the city; 16,000 poor households having members receiving monthly social security benefits under government regulations.
Ha Noi has spent VND 15.5 billion to Bank of Social Policies to aiding poor households, and marginally poor households in production; VND 8.3 billion for people with disabilities and VND 111.2 billion in job creation.
In 2013, the city has organized vocational training for 2,806 poor, 1,861 ethnic minority, 215 disadvantaged people, 376 people from poor households. They have received guidance to develop agricultural, forestry and fishery production.
In coming time, Ha Noi aims to continue facilitating target policies on poverty reduction and improving living standards for its residents, while encouraging innovation in production and business to reduce the poverty rate. The capital city will build more appropriate and concrete poverty reduction policies, with a particular priority given to ethnic people.
