The project consists of four contract packages worth over VDN 2.5 billion (US$ 110,303) on building, bidding, supervision, and insurance.

The Ha Noi Landscape and Relic Management Committee is responsible for managing the project.

The Ha Noi Ceramic Road originated from journalist Nguyễn Thu Thủy, who won a prize in the Hanoi architecture contest for her idea of transforming the dyke system around Ha Noi into a ceramic mosaic. The work of decoration began in 2007 for the dyke wall of about 6.000m in length and 0.95m in height which runs along the road through Au Co, Nghi Tam, Yen Phu, Tran Nhat Duat, Tran Quang Khai, Tran Khanh Du, and ends at the pier of the Long Bien Bridge.

Within four years of implementation, it attracted 20 domestic artists and 15 foreign ones from Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, the UK, the U.S., and Argentina. In addition, over 100 craftsmen and handicraft workers, 500 people, students, and children engaged in the project./.
