Running from October 4 to 15, this phase maintains the same scope and methods as the first trial but introduces weekly tickets in addition to single-ride and daily options available on the "Hanoi Metro" mobile application.
The program also expands the use of chip-based citizen ID cards for passengers under 60 years old, extending participation to all Line 2A users.
According to Ha Noi Metro, the initiative aims to improve passenger convenience and overall travel experience. Participants can register directly at information counters across Line 2A stations. Those joining the pilot are eligible for promotional gifts from partners such as Visa, VietinBank, and MoMo e-wallet.
During phase one (September 20–30), the company tested the system across 12 stations with 65 fare gates. The first trial featured multiple ticketing and verification methods, including chip-based citizen ID cards, mobile QR codes, NFC technology, and EMV card payments. It involved elderly passengers entitled to free travel as well as regular riders using single and daily tickets.
The pilot program drew significant public interest and constructive feedback, providing valuable insights for future improvements.
Ha Noi Metro expressed its appreciation for continued passenger engagement, affirming its commitment to developing a safe, convenient, and eco-friendly urban railway system through the application of modern digital technologies./.
