According to the city's Department of Agriculture and Environment, the city has effectively implemented the 2026 Spring "Tet tree-planting festival in eternal gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh."

As of the end of May, the city planted 246,820 trees of various species, fulfilling 61.7 percent of its annual target, and replanted 26.05 hectares of forest following timber harvesting.

During the same period, the city recorded five forest fires, affecting a total area of 3.392 hectares. Most of the incidents involved undergrowth and ground vegetation and did not cause significant damage to forest resources.

All fires were detected and brought under control promptly, preventing them from spreading over large areas. Compared with the same period in 2025, the number of forest fires fell by five incidents, while the total burned area decreased by 1.104 hectares.

Amid the hustle and bustle of Ha Noi, a dedicated force of forest rangers quietly preserves nearly 27,100 hectares of forest and forestry land across the capital city, an essential "green belt" that, while modest in size, plays a vital role in climate regulation, ecological protection, and links to eco‑tourism, cultural heritage, and spiritual practices.

Under the two-tier administration model, 25 communes in the city retain forest and forestry land, including Soc Son, My Duc, Ba Vi, Son Tay, Quoc Oai, Thach That, and others.

Although the capital's forest footprint is relatively small, the Forest Protection Sub‑department within the municipal Agriculture and Environment Department has adopted a suite of measures to strengthen forest management, protection, and development

In particular, authorities have invested in wildfire prevention and suppression, wildlife control, and remote monitoring via the Forest Resource Monitoring System (FRMS) 4.0 system. Such efforts underscore the critical role forest rangers play in safeguarding Ha Noi's natural assets./.
