Ha Noi to bolster collaboration with Prague, Vienna in urban development

The visit aimed to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the capital city and the capitals of Prague (Czech Republic) and Vienna (Austria) through delegation exchanges and learn from the two cities' strengths and experience.
It targeted to explore the potential for implementing practical and effective cooperation programs in such areas as digital governance, integrated urban planning and development, smart cities, and preservation and promotion of heritage values for economic development.
The visit also sought to promote people-to-people diplomacy, enhance information sharing, and mobilize resources and expertise from the Vietnamese communities abroad to support the development of Ha Noi and the country in the new era.
During the meeting with Chairman of the Vienna City Council Committee on the Vienna City Council Committee on European and International Affairs (GRA-EU) Sascha Obrecht, Do proposed several areas of potential cooperation, including urban planning, urban management and smart transportation; preservation of architectural heritage linked to the development of the heritage economy; culture, arts and tourism; and other areas.
The two sides vowed to maintain communication through their respective embassies to facilitate technical-level exchanges and information sharing, with a view to building modern, sustainable, and people-centered cities.

Meeting with first deputy mayor of the city of Prague for Spatial Development and Urban Planning Petr Hlaváček, Do proposed strengthening the exchange of experience with Prague in urban planning and management, heritage preservation, public transport development, and digital transformation.
In particular, he urged Prague to share its experience in preserving and upgrading heritage areas, especially the inner city and historic districts.
Ha Noi is also interested in Prague's experience in developing social housing and housing for middle-income earners, expanding the public housing stock, as well as its financial mechanisms and public-private partnership models, he underlined.
Beyond urban planning and development, he suggested expanding cooperation with Prague in transport infrastructure, smart cities, science and technology, digital transformation, culture, arts, education and training, and social welfare.
The city also wishes to work with Prague, through the diplomatic representative agencies of the two countries, to promote business connectivity, investment and trade promotion, and tourism, he recommended./.
