Ha Noi to build tenth bridge across Red River
VGP - The authorities of Ha Noi have recently approved a plan to build a new bridge over the Red River linking Bac Tu Liem and Dong Anh districts, with an estimated investment of VND8.3 trillion (US$352.2 million) from the city's budget.
Under the plan, the bridge will be named Thuong Cat, becoming the tenth bridge spanning the Red River under Ha Noi's 2015-2030 transportation plan.
The Thuong Cat Bridge is scheduled to begin construction this year and be completed by 2027, with a length of 820 meters and a width of 33 meters. It will have eight lanes and allow a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The work is expected to ease traffic congestion and boost the socio-economic development of the capital.
The project's technical infrastructure includes traffic lights, trees and bridge drainage systems.
To ensure a well-coordinated transportation network, the Hanoi People's Council has approved the construction of a road connecting the Thuong Cat Bridge to National Highway No. 32, with a total investment of around VND1.5 trillion ($62.7 million).
The project is expected to be open to traffic in 2026.
The Ha Noi Management Board for Traffic Infrastructure Investment and Construction Projects has been designated as the project's main investor.
Ha Noi considers the Thuong Cat Bridge an important transportation project whose progress must be accelerated every day.
The other nine bridges are Hong Ha, Me So (Ring road 4), New Thang Long (Ring road 3), Tu Lien, Vinh Tuy (Phase 2), Ngoc Hoi, Tran Hung Dao, Phu Xuyen and Van Phuc bridges (connecting with Vinh Phuc Province)./.
