HN leads FDI attraction in first half

VGP – Ha Noi lured US$ 5.3 billion of FDI in the first six months of 2019, becoming the most attractive FDI destination, the Ha Noi Statistics Office reported.

So far, the city absorbed US$ 41.2 billion of FDI with 4,850 valid projects with US$ 34.2 billion of registered capital. Foreign investors poured about US$ 7 billion to buy shares in 1,850 projects. The amount of FDI disbursement hit about US$ 20.5 billion, accounting for 49.7% of total register capital. 

Regarding structure, the industry and construction sector accounted for 37.2% followed by the real estate sector with 31.2%; the trade and service sector with 31.2%; the agro-forestry-fishery sector with 0.2%. 

Japan was the largest FDI provider with about US$ 10.2 billion, followed by Singapore with US$ 6.6 billion and the Republic of Korea with US$ 5.5 billion. 

The local authorities approved 17 non-budget projects worth VND 12.6 trillion and adjusted investment capital for 34 others. In January-June period, 13,690 projects were founded with a total registered capital of VND 143.7 trillion, up 10% in number and 1% in capital. 

In the reviewed period, the city has perfected the business environment and extricated difficulties for businesses. 

Over 1,000 enterprises were dissolved, representing a year-on-year growth of 45%. Meanwhile, 5,319 enterprises resumed operation./.
