Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2019 opens
VGP – The Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports and the New Ha Noi Newspaper on March 24 kicked off the Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2019 and launched the 4 6 th New Ha Noi Newspaper Run for Peace .
The activity aimed to celebrate the 73th traditional day of Viet Nam’s sport and physical training sector (March 27, 1946 – 2019).
It is also expected to promote importance of sports and encourage people to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s call to exercise for better health, thus contributing to improving the quality of life and building a healthy lifestyle and environment.
A run around Hoan Kiem Lake area took place in response to the launch, drawing the participation of Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai, representatives of Ha Noi’s authorities, armed force, and physical training centres, and over 8,000 local residents.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ha NoiPeople’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said the runs are meaningful and practical training activities for people.
In addition, the Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports held competitions of various sports, including badminton, sepak takraw, shuttlecock kicking, and traditional Vietnamese martial arts, along Dinh Tien Hoang street./.
