Rok, VN art shines on traditional “poonah” paper

VGP - An muster featuring art works regulating Vietnamese normal “do” (poonah) paper is taking place from May 22 - June 12 in Ha Noi.

Director of a Ha Noi-based Korean Cultural Centre Park Nark Jong said the event follows the success of a similar event showcasing the RoK’s handicrafts made of its traditional “hanji” paper in April.

The centre wants to horde some-more activities to boost a mutual understanding and cultural-art exchanges between a dual countries, he added.

Art lovers have chance to enjoy seventy-one contemporary art works combined by Vietnamese calligrapher Xuan Nhu and painter Yoyo from a Republic of Korea, many of them going open for a initial time.  

The exhibition is expected to help visitors understand better about the development of this traditional material which serves as the base for a magical mixture of tradition and modern in the art works.

It comes from a bellow of a poonah trees in northern provinces such as Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang.

The event will run until Jun 12 at No 49 Nguyen Du Street, Hai Ba Trung district, Ha Noi.
