To effectively deal with the epidemic, Director of the Department Dr. Nguyen Khac Hien also said medical centres should devise plans to prepare necessary medicines and equipment to timely cope with any breakout of EVD.
The health sector has also taken drastic measures to cope with dengue fever, hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD), hepatitis B, A/H5N1 and A/H7N9 avian influenza.
In addition, the sector has strengthened supervision over the quality of water resources in rural areas, stepped up communications on the disease and encouraged residents to take preventive measures.
The WHO has reported the number of confirmed Ebola infections has reached 1,711 with 932 deaths in the four West African nations of Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
Ebola spreads in the human population through close contact with blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals.
