Vietnamese documentary selected to Colours of Asia project
VGP – A Vietnamese documentary “Soccer Field in the Clouds” has been selected to join the Colours of Asia – a collaborative cultural research project that culminates in an exhibition, student workshops, a forum, a seminar, a collection of research papers and a book.
The film, which will be screened on Japan's NHK, talks about A Lu, 20-year old H'mong man who got married and has two children.
A Lu is a member of a football team in Ta Xua - a mountainous area of Son La province's Bac Yen district. He wishes to play football but the team mates ask him to play as a goalkeeper.
Like many other H'mong people, A Lu earns his living by picking tea leaves but he makes tea in traditional way as he believes that it will help retain the best quality.
He meets Kien – another man who leaves urban life behind for a startup in rural area.
Kien discovers that ancient tea trees could yield best quality leaves. The two men become increasingly close friends as they pick up tea leaves and make tea together in traditional ways. Moreover, they learn from each other about culture and lifestyles./.
