Ha Noi adopts poverty-free plan by 2025
VGP – By 2025, the Capital City of Ha Noi will completely terminate poverty and target an annual income per capita of over VND 60 million.
The city targets to put an end to poverty by 2025 and raise income per capita to VND 60 million per year. The city also looks to boost employment rate to over 95% and clean water supply in rural areas to 100%. Health insurance coverage would reach over 90%.
In the 2016-2019 period, 7,165 poor households were given financial assistance to build and mend houses. 100% of poor and near-poor households were given health insurance cards. Specifically, in the three-year period, over 1 million people from poor and near-poor households were granted health insurance cards worth VND 683 billion.
Regarding educational and vocational training, 100% of pupils of poor households were supported for tuition fees. Pupils of near-poor households got 50% tuition fee cuts.
Up to 26,136 poor households accessed preferential loans worth VND 830 billion. About 38,260 near-poor households were given over VND 1,166 billion of preferential loans to escape from poverty.
In addition, 100% of poor households enjoyed free electricity supply.
As of late 2018, the local poverty rate fell to 1.19%, lower than the preset goal of 1.2%./.
