For handicraft and fine art products, the city has targeted an average annual export growth rate of 5-8% to reach US$550 million by 2025.

Positive effects

According to the Ha Noi Industrial Extension and Development Consultancy Center (under the Ha Noi Department of Industry and Trade), after five years (2016-2020) of implementing the city industrial extension program, 64 rural industrial establishments have received assistance in renovating equipment, applying scientific and technical advances to production, improving productivity and reducing environmental pollution.

Notably, the program has successfully organized five handicraft export fairs with a transaction value of approximately US$30 million.

Improving production quality and efficiency at rural industrial establishments

To help businesses and industrial establishments in rural areas to step by step renovate technology, expand their production scale and promote development, Ha Noi will implement the municipal People’s Committee’s Plan No. 29/KH-UBND dated February 11, 2020 on the city industrial extension in 2020.

In the period of 2021-2025, Ha Noi aims to have over 10,000 rural businesses and industrial establishments to be assisted by the industrial extension program with 50,000 jobs created for rural workers, targeting an average annual growth rate of 5-8% in exports of handicraft and fine art products, to US$550 million by 2025.

According to Dao Hong Thai, Director of the Ha Noi Industrial Extension and Development Consultancy Center, to achieve that goal, Ha Noi will continue to take measures to remove difficulties and support businesses in boosting production and improving competitiveness. The transmission of vocational skills will be linked to rural industrial establishments’ demand for using on-site workers. The improvement of production quality and efficiency will be associated with training activities to improve the quality of human resources, promoting innovative designs, and diversifying products.

In addition, the center will continue to promote the organization of specialized fairs and exhibitions to advertise product brands, as well as developing the e-commerce and goods tracking systems, developing online sales channels for rural industrial products, and giving priority to supporting small-sized businesses, enterprises using many workers, and companies with technology investment and environmentally friendly products./.
