Ha Noi targets to become UNESCO City of Learning
VGP - Ha Noi is crafting concrete plans to join UNESCO's Global Network of Learning Cities, according to Deputy Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen.

Speaking at the conference in response to the movement "The whole country vies to build a learning society, promote lifelong learning in the period 2023-2030" held in Ha Noi last weekend, Tuyen said that Ha Noi had achieved good results in the past and is on track to fulfill the goals set by the Vietnamese government," she said.
Ha Noi has achieved all four basic goals of the Government's plan to build a learning society and has even surpassed some of them. Specifically, the literacy rate of people aged 15 to 60 reached 99.97 percent, while the national rate is 97.85 percent.
The number of cadres and officials trained to meet the prescribed standards reached 100% (compared to the national rate of 94.22 percent).
"Ha Noi has made great progress in promoting studies, nurturing talents, and building a learning society, thanks to the important contribution of the Ha Noi Study Promotion Association, one of the core units in building a learning society," Tuyen stressed.
"So far, the Association has more than 1.5 million members across the city; the number of "studying family" accounted for 71.25 percent of the total; the model of "learning citizen" is being built and replicated," said Nguyen Thi Ngoc Minh, Chairwoman of Ha Noi Study Promotion Association.
On behalf of the city leaders, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen praised the achievements of the Ha Noi Study Promotion Association in recent years. She acknowledged the efforts and outstanding achievements of 185 people (113 students and 72 adult delegates), 18 good people with good deeds in study promotion./.
