President beats drum to launch 2022-2023 academic year
VGP - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc beat the drum to kick off the new 2022-2023 academic year at the High School for Gifted Students under the Viet Nam National University (VNU)’s Ha Noi University of Science (HUS) on September 5.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Phuc affirmed that education is the foundation for sustainable development, decisive to the nation's future; therefore, investing in education is investing in the future.
He hailed achievements gained by teachers and students nationwide, including those from the VNU-HUS High School for Gifted Students, during international Olympiads, thus contributing to affirming the position of Vietnamese education in the world.
To successfully fulfill tasks for the new academic year, the State leader asked the educational sector to speed up fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training.
The same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared the joy of teachers and more than 23 million students nationwide at the start of the new school year, attending a ceremony on September 5 at Doan Thi Diem primary school in Ha Noi.
Besides learning, he asked the children to develop the habit of reading to gain more knowledge and foster their soul, and also train their life skills.
Also on September 5, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ha Noi Municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung came to share the new school year’s joy with teachers and students of Ha Noi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students.

The same day, the new academic year started on September 5 in Ha Noi with more than 2.2 million schoolchildren, from kindergarten to high school.
In the 2022-2022 academic year, the capital city has over 2.2 million students, the largest number so far.
To ensure safety, Ha Noi's authorities ask schools to limit the opening ceremony time to no more than one hour./.
