Press centre opens to serve Ha Noi’s Party congress

VGP - A press centre opened in the city on October 30 to serve the upcoming 16th Congress of the municipal Party Organisation.

Located at the Viet Nam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, the well-equipped centre can accommodate nearly 200 people. 

It will supply information for domestic and foreign reporters about the congress.

The municipal Party Committee will organise press conferences and deliver press releases after the congress’s working sessions at the centre.

The centre staff would give reporters the latest information about the congress.

The 16th Congress of the municipal Party Organisation is slated to start on November 1. It will decide on orientations and guidelines to help the city move forward over the next five years.

Accordingly, the city will focus on modernising urban and rural area infrastructure in a uniform fashion, hastening administrative reform to improve services provided by State civil officials and the investment environment, and increasing the quality of human resources.

The centre will operate until November 3.

The city’s economy has grown remarkably over the past five years. Gross domestic product (GDP) increased 9.23 percent on average – 1.58 times higher than that of the country.

The city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) for 2015 stands at about US$ 27.6 billion. Income per capita is approximately US$3,600, 1.8 times higher than in 2010.

Services, industry-construction and agriculture make up 54%, 41.5% and 4.5% of the economy, respectively.

The State collected about VND714.5 trillion (US$32 billion) over the year, a yearly increase of 7.1%.

Ha Noi is leading the nation in the number of new rural communes. By the end of the year, the city will have 179 that fulfill all criteria on building new-style rural areas. These will account for one fifth of the total new rural communes in the country.
