Despite numerous difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, there remain bright colors in Ha Noi’s socio-economic picture in 2020.

The city’s budget revenue has still achieved the year’s estimate and increased by 3.5% compared to the previous year. In particular, regardless of the disease situation and the unfavorable weather conditions, the agricultural sector has grown by 4.2%, a five-year record high.

In addition, the bottlenecks have been cleared, while the satisfaction index of people and businesses has improved, evidenced through the total social investment estimated at VND416.15 trillion (US$18.04 billion), up 8% year-on-year, and the establishment of more than 25,000 new enterprises.

The aforementioned results have been attributed to Ha Noi’s close direction, clear assignments and decisive settlement of issues, as well as the city’s enhancement of discipline at work. 

Breakthrough policies have also created positive change in administration and general operations from the municipal to grassroots levels, gradually forming a dedicated civil service and addressing weaknesses and stagnancies. 

Specifically, the city has been steadfast to the goal of putting the people and businesses at the focus of services, continuing to shorten the time spent handling administrative procedures, improving the level of public services, supporting investors and removing obstacles for enterprises in the face of the disease’s impact. 

Also, the role, responsibility and role modelling of leaders at all levels and in all sectors have been constantly reminded and encouraged.

Those results have triggered a quite optimistic view among many people when Ha Noi has gone through a term and reached the desired destination. 

As affirmed by city leaders, in the spirit of action, innovation, creativity and development thinking, in the near future, Ha Noi will review and re-assess the current decentralization mechanisms and policies, thence making appropriate adjustments. 

With the bright signals when the city has gone through a difficult year, as well as the acceptance of shortcomings and the determination of specific measures, it is expected that Ha Noi will continue to develop with new and more prominent breakthroughs right from the first year of the new term./.
