Capital welcomes 4.45 million foreign visitors in nine months

VGP - Ha Noi welcomed about 4.45 million foreign tourists in the first nine months of this year, surging 40.8 percent year-on-year and nearly fulfilling its yearly target of serving 5 million international visitors, according to the city Department Tourism.

Foreign visitors flock to Ha Noi in September

In September, the capital city received 2.16 million visitors, up 6.1 percent year-on-year. The figure included 510,600 foreigners, a surge of 32 percent over the same period last year.

The city's total tourism revenue valued VND8.66 trillion (USS$351.6 million) last month, up 12.8 percent year-on-year.

In January-September period, the capital city served 21.12 million visitors, a rise of 11.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023, with total revenue estimated at VND81.93 trillion, up 18.5 percent year-on-year.

Especially, as September had a four-day National Day holiday, hotels across the city reported an occupation rate of 64.3 percent, up 6.73 percent from the same period last year.

This year, Ha Noi aims to welcome approximately 27 million visitors, including 5.5 million foreigners, up 9.2 percent and 16.4 percent year-on-year, respectively. The total revenue from tourism is expected to reach around VND103.74 trillion (USS$4.22 billion), an annual increase of 11.1 percent. The average occupancy rate of accommodation facilities and hotels is targeted at 62 percent.

The department said that in the rest of the year, the city will spur new tourism products such as adventure sports tourism, experiential tourism, and virtual reality tourism.

In addition, it will develop MICE tourism in locations with advantages in leisure and golf tourism associated with hosting cultural, sports, political, social events, major national and international festivals.

Besides, the department said that it will coordinate with localities and agencies to develop a system of typical rural tourism destinations and agro-tourism models, as well as community-based tourism and craft village tourism./.
