According to historical records, 'pho' first appeared in Ha Noi in the early 20th century.

Between 1907 and 1910, the dish began to be sold by street vendors across the corners of Ha Noi.

As of 2023, 'pho' is served in nearly 700 food establishments across the capital city, with the most popular of them being located in the districts of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, and Hai Ba Trung.

A bowl of pho bo in Ha Noi costs from VND30,000 to 50,000 (US$1.32-2.20).

Following in the footsteps of Hanoians and Vietnamese expatriates, pho has been promoted around the world, thus establishing a brand for Vietnamese cuisine. It has won the hearts of domestic and foreign gourmets alike.

Earlier, Pho ranked 34th in a list of 100 most popular dishes in the world as complied by international food magazine TasteAtlas.

CNN included pho bo (Vietnamese beef noodle soup) in its list of 20 best soups in the world along with China's Lanzhou equivalent and Thailand's Tom yum goong./.
